Loughborough. I have tried to cancel my member on numerous occasions now and I have still been billed! I have rang up, messaged AND emailed. The costumer service is shocking and being lied to is not acceptable. I have cancelled my direct debit and now I am being texted and emailed saying I need to reinstate my direct debit. Money grabbing company with no consideration for the costumers. Would never go back to anytime fitness and would definitely never recommend them.

Daylight robbery!Ever since I joined anytime fitness I regretted it. They refuse to cancel your membership until you have paid every month for 12 months. Even with the current lockdown, they are still charging each month and refuse to let me cancel my membership. For anyone who is considering a membership, don't. There are plenty of other gyms that let you cancel at anytime. If, like me, you have moments where some days you're really determined to exercise and other days you can't be bothered/don't have the time.

Southend Anytime FitnessBeen paying since since Dec, gym appears to have since gone insolvent and now has a new buyer. Didn’t mind paying if it was going to help the club out during these thought times. They then decided to re-furb, meaning gym didn’t open 12th April as expected, with no ETA of if/when it will open. So no visit to the gym in April either. The gym is empty, no kit in there, no lights on and no sign of anyone.Poor and limited communication of what is happening and when.Have tried to cancel membership since 13 April repeatedly, via email, phone, using feedback forms directly to the gym. Tried to cancel via main AF website. Getting no joy at all, nil response and no idea who to speak to so I can get this matter resolved.Cancelled DD so have not paid in May and have now been contacted via 3rd party payments (club wise) about not having an active DD. Responded to them and the gym but nil response.Other people also having the same issue.I would not recommend this gym. Communication is poor. Response is nil. Run in the interest of the company and not the members.

I have had no issues with the gym up until now. They closed in December and did not reopen until April. They took payment from me for the months that they were closed and upon reopening have told me that they are unable to give me my money back, only credit me or freeze my account for the next 3 months.I have explained I am leaving and changing gyms so I just want my money back but they refuse. Over £150 out of pocket for no reason. Appalling.

Orpington branch refuses to issue me a full refund for all the months they were closed due to Coronavirus restrictions. They claim that I have to give them cancellation notice and pay for another month whilst they remain shut.

I belong to Feltham branch and my membership started 3/3/20 I have just given a month’s notice to cancel my membership as the agreed 12 months is due to end and have been informed that due to the club being closed because of Covid-19 I can’t cancel as haven’t paid a full twelve months membership. I cannot be penalized for the exceptional circumstances that this pandemic has created and the fact the government has forced the closure of the gyms. I was charged a month when it was closed too .I will cancel my direct debit regardless of what the club are telling me as it’s not acceptable and will be furious if there are any repercussions after .My daughter canceled her membership at another gym and had no issues from them at all unlike anytime fitness

Terrible, if i would ever knew where i am getting myself to i would of never signed up to this gym!!!! Before lockdown i asked them to freeze my membership (as i still had active membership from my previous gym) one of the team member from Stratford anytime fitness on leyton road have confirmed the freeze and as i paid one month in advanced they ensured this payment would cover my first month when i start which could of been in january. However the other day 1st of feb i notice charge on my account and gym manager Fabio has emailed me saying they can refund this charge or this charge can over my first month back from lockdown which is bizarre as i have already paid one month in advanced!!! Long story short they denying my freeze and telling me that i had active membership for 20 odd days never less i asked them to freeze it!! Also there's no complains department and he's telling me he's the only person i can talk to regarding this matter...... I wish i would of never signed up just ripping people off!!!!

My place of peaceI use the Ilkeston branch of anytime. Great layout, always clean, very cheerful & knowledgeable staff always willing to help. Fantastic variety of equipment from free weights, resistance to cv stuff. Adjusted well and very professional within the current covid climate.

Easy and convenient, friendly staff, good COVID precautions in place, it’s a great local gym.(this is for the Stockton Heath branch)

I will keep this short as I have wasted to much of my time with Anytime Fitness and besides I have found a charitable gym that does not tie you into a contract and has a far better way of communicating with its members.During the first lockdown I had the same treatment as all the others that have contributed to this site.As far as I was concerned they breached their own contract because they went from "Anytime" to " No time" or " some of the time" !! You cannot be called Anytime Fitness and not be, that is mis selling your brand. The other point for me was the description of a yearly contract which was vague, it was their organisation that felt that they could extend the contract to suit, it was not my own wish. Also lets not forget that their gyms are not supervised all of the time, so how can they guarantee your personal safety under Covid conditions. To avoid the threat of 3rd party recovery agents I decided to walk in and pay up the balance advising them that I would recover through the courts. I went to mcol small claims, which the franchise holder initially decided to defend threatening a counterclaim. I took them on issuing my own counterclaim and for some reason they decided not to back up their defence. As such their defence and counterclaim have now been struck out by the courts and hopefully the franchise holder should now get a nice letter from the courts with an instruction to pay back the very same money that I paid to get myself out of the contract plus court costs of course or their will be recovery charges added, you know...those third party recovery agents!I thank you.Top Tip...Do not use this type of gym set up and if you do read all the contract on that tablet get it printed. The method of joining is easy but getting out is a very different journey.

DO NOT JOIN ANYTIME FITNESS.I had only just joined when COVID hit and then I lost my job so I cancelled my DD with Anytime Fitness, thinking I would pick this up with them once we knew what was going on. They kept charging me during lockdown and then demanded a back payment of 2 months membership (while they were closed). They also made me send them proof of me losing my job in writing from my previous employer, and then still didn't budge on the monies they insisted I owed them, and refused to cancel my membership. It was a total nightmare getting a straight answer out of anyone directly at my gym (Tooting Branch). I kept getting fobbed off by Dan, who was "dealing" with my complaint. I then spoke to several other members of staff there all of which passed the buck on. As far as I was concerned the "debt" in question was in dispute but today Anytime Fitness sent me a rather jolly email (at 1.45am) saying they have sold on my debt ( also adding late fees) to a collections company and they will be cancelling my membership. What a way to treat your members.AVOID AT ALL COSTS.EDIT: In response to the club's response. Replying to complaints / reviews with a generic response goes further to show what an utterly incompetent business you are.

I am unable to use my membership at all due to the changes on booking and opening times. Stroud have refused to help with their staff being threatening and discriminating against me due to my disability.

I joined anytime fitness Huntingdon at the end of January 2020 before the pandemic hit and was looking forward to it. I was promised a £5 referral discount per calendar month as of March as my partner had joined before me and I should have been paying £25.95 each month overall. However, I was still being charged £30.95 each month which I had complained about. Nothing was done, so I got charged the full amount again for April. When lockdown hit, my partner got an email about the options he could take so that he was not being charged for a service that was unavailable to him at the time. I got no such email until I contacted them myself. I was then given the option a few days later to freeze my direct debit at a cost of £5 per calendar month which I was happy with. However, they still took the full amount out of my account each month for May and June and I had contacted them and complained on numerous occasions to very little outcome, with false promises and the rest of it. I cancelled my direct debit to avoid anymore charges while lockdown was in place and would have set up my direct debit with them again if they had refunded me the £61.90 that they owed me. The best they could offer was a 30% discount each month until I was refunded for the two months they charged full price for, which I declined, as they did not include the referral scheme discount that they had been advertising. Now they are bombarding me with emails saying I have default payments and that I will be charged £12 for arrears, even though they still owe me money today. I have contacted the ombudsman today and am awaiting a phone call. Avoid this gym, they will extort you at every turn and will pretend to be pleasant when all they care about is their own bank accounts.

Trying to cancel your membership is a complete hassle and they constantly send you text messages telling you to keep a direct debit in force. They don’t listen to you or read your emails or give you replies to any of your correspondence. If a business deserves to fail it is this one due to terrible customer service. If I could have given no stars I would have done so.
